Teh C Special / 3 Coloured Layer Milk Tea

So what's the new craze about? Nothing much on this milk tea actually, the new craze is about my mom going gaga on this drink, which apparently just made its mark in my hometown, or probably just discovered by my mom.

By the time I got back to my hometown, my mom has been non stop going gaga over this drink for 2 weeks! She's been going round town and asking for this drink whenever she sat down in a restaurant/cafe. And my mistake over this is, I introduced my mom the way to drink this milk tea layer by layer, pulling your straw upwards as you drink, just for the fun of tasting each layers.  And now she refused to stir the layers together when you're supposed to, and refused to let us stir it either. Zzzzz

She would also squeal like an excited child whenever the waitress/waiter serve her this drink, and start comparing which Teh C Special in town is the best. Besides, she would even frown whenever the layers aren't presented nicely.

Well, I guess it's just the child in her.

Design Thinking by ThinkLab

What is Design Thinking?

What I think about design thinking?

Well, after joining the workshop organised by ThinkLab, I had this grasp of understanding towards design and I KNEW that design wasn't about drawing stuffs and making things look pretty as what my parent think it is - thinking that what i'm taking now in college will only offer me jobs like setting up booth at the roadside and making a living out of drawing faces. Zzzzz.

For me, design is about planning and executing it in a way that works best and benefits both. It is a thinking process instead of the end product. For example, design can be used in planning an organisation structure in a company, organising people, designing the future of a country etc. It is also a logical thinking with imaginations.

Based on my previous experience in the workshop, I became more inspired and passionate about my work and assignment. It gave me a focus on what I wanted to be. This workshop is also good for those who felt that their passion drained off, or even lose directions,  often from factors such as working environments, negative comments and poor supporting groups. It is also a fun place to be as it really puts you out of the typical work environment and you also get to meet new people and put your communication skills in practice.

*******************************MORE WORKSHOPS COMING UP!*******************************

in this coming 3 days workshop, which will be held on the 9th, 16th & 17th of June 2012, Granma Inc from Japan will be collaborating by providing real world issues which means, you can actually be a part of the world problem solving community! Wouldn't it be great if your works happened to be chosen and used around the world?

Another main thing about this workshop is, having fun! Often, great ideas pop out of nowhere when you're not actually thinking about it. Besides, this workshop is NOT meant to be for designers only. Anyone from any background can join! It'll be a life changing experience for you. Even so, as I always believe, there's no harm in having to learn more, or better still, learning something out of your scope. ;D

Black Widow

Ah! it's school holiday, Avengers the movie is out, and finally, i'm able to finish a portrait of Black Widow, one of my favourite cunning superhero in Avengers. (right after Iron Man)

Which girl doesn't look up to a girl like that? Besides all the awesome acrobatic moves, she's sexy, seductive, strong, flexible, sly, and not to mention, smokin' hot! (not just talking about Scarlett Johansson though. she fits the character perfectly!)

Scam

A few days ago, I was contacted by an unknown number...

I was first greeted by this robotic monotoned lady who is obviously a chinese speaking malay, claiming that I have a letter from the High Court, and was then told to press 0 to speak to the managing consultant. I pressed, and then *ding ding dong dong there goes the music* Then was greeted by this malay guy who claimed that he was calling from the post office, saying that I have this unclaimed letter from the high court that they also tried to send it to me but couldn't. I asked where was the letter sent to? Cause if it's sent to my house in my hometown, then my mom or any of my family member would have received it, but if it's sent to the house where I'm currently living as I'm studying outstation, then idk. I also thought that what have I done so serious to the extent that I could receive a letter from the High Court? I tried asking many times, but was shot down. HOW RUDE! damn it! I could've just hung up, but didn't cause I was curious about the letter itself.

And at that time, I couldn't quite think or listen clearly due to the serious distraction in my aunt's office where apparently, the workers are cleaning the air-cond with this humongous vacuum.  The person asked for my full name and IC number(which I gave) and gave me this reference number and said that my letter is currently with what they call high ranking important officer/anyone to do with the law and order stuffs. He also said that within the next 15 minutes, another person will contact me and reminded me to use the reference number. So I waited.

So within the next 15 minutes, I told my aunt what happened and she gave me this stunned look, almost shocked in dismay and literally screamed at me for being so stupid, and at that moment, I already realised what happened without her telling me what's gonna happen next. I was dumbfounded, it was like being hypnotised during the whole entire call. I panicked and my uncle advised me to make a report to the police instead while my aunt tried calling back the number that called me. But then around 20 minutes later, there's indeed another incoming call. This time, this person claimed that he's Inspector Wong, obviously a Chinese, but speaks in perfect Malay. My aunt snatched my phone over and confronted him. Asking him that If he's chinese, and I'm chinese, then it'll be better for us to communicate in Mandarin. The "Inspector" asked who is she and she replied claiming that she's my mother and asked what he wants, and all he say is just hello hello hello hello all the way as if the line is breaking then hung up. Caught!

I was being lectured by my aunt about these kinds of syndicate that was happening, and I didn't know that there was such thing(except for the you-win-a-prize thingy), serves me right though. I was angry, pissed and panicking as now they have my name and IC number and god knows what they would do with it. But hopefully they will just let it off as my aunt "caught" them red handed.

I was being lectured by 4 person that day, 4! All repeating the same thing over and over again, about how should I not reveal my personal info to anyone and bla bla bla. I felt bad enough and lecturing me the same thing over and over again won't make things any better ok? Though I'm thankful that I was with my aunt that day, cause if I don't, I have no idea what kind of trouble i'll end up into.

Anyways, just letting you guys know the numbers that contacted me. DO NOT PICK UP! And if you do, give them a hardcore lecture, stab them in the mouth, fool them like meddling up your IC number, names etc and shove their own shoes up into their ass!

1st no : +123456
2nd no: +60322662222

Really do wish if I owned that kind of technology, I would just rip your mouth off, so
you couldn't speak and scam others ever again!
damn scammers! GET A LIFE!

Dubu Kimchi

The other day while we were in Mid Valley mall, we spotted a new Korean restaurant called Dubu Dubu at the lower ground floor and it was about the right time where out tummy started rumbling. So we have to try it anyway.

The whole atmosphere of the restaurant is like any cutesy restaurant you'll find in Malaysia, with realistic "plastic" food display out there just to get you drooling over to try their food. And of course, it's eye pleasing - irresistible!

We went in and ordered their signature dish called "Soondubu", it basically look like a Kimchi soup, only it's not kimchi soup, idk, cause there's another dish called Kimchi Soondubu which my boyfriend ordered.

Then, the dish was served, it was served with a bowl of rice and 3 side dish, more like condiments. (and you have to pay extra like RM2 just to refill the side dish!)

It looks super yummy and pleasing

but then....

after trying, I was like are you kidding me?  then I was like WTF is this?
even my boyfriend could help agreeing that
This
is
not
what
we
paid
for!

it's super bland, even the kimchi taste bland,
the chicken doesn't taste fresh at all, and
the tofu is overwhelming!
Overwhelming in numbers and overwhelming in flavour!
I mean hello?! I ordered Chicken Soodubu damn it, not tofu Soodubu.

this is so deceiving..
yet, the way they describe it - convincing (smack in the head!)

it says:
Our signature Soondubu Jigaes are a robust mix of meat or seafood and silky smooth tofu
cooked in a hearty broth that is simmered over hours to extract its wholesome flavours.
Each Soondubu Jigae is served piping hot (this is true though) and steaming with fabulous aroma (true as well).
The moment it arrives at your table, stir the Soondubu Jigae, mixing up the tofu and egg to savour the
rich, spicy and creamy taste of our signature stew.(The egg is nowhere to be seen lo wth)
To complete your experience, Enjoy it with our special Dubu Dubu rice(which is literally those
purple rice you can get in your local supermarket) served with every Soondubu set.
The Soondubu Jigae is truly what a hearty soothing meal should be (yeah right)

I can even do better than that and make it taste like so lo.. hello?!

X X for Dubu Dubu, but to be fair, as

I haven't try everything from that place, I'll probably come back
and try other dishes instead, and hopefully it won't turn out that disappointing.
(signature dish my ass!)

I'm not sure about the rest of you, but for me, it's lacking of flavours and I'm a person of flavours. So if you're those type of people who prefer plain and simple flavour (less salt and such) then it's the place for you.

So after the visit, I decided that I have to make my version of Kimchi Soondubu, cause this seriously... Zzzzzz

So this is my version of the Kimchi Soondubu.
But since i'm trying it with ramen instead of rice, it's basically Kimchi Ramen
Look more appetising right? I mean, at least that damn egg is visible!

Ingredients used (3-4 person)
- Half chicken
- Half chicken(de-boned, and cut into cubes)
- 2 cloves of garlics, smashed
- Kimchi (purchased from Jusco, ilmi trading, large)
- 1 Tbsp Dried chilli powder (Optional if you want that extra spiciness)
- 2 Tomatoes, wedged
- Soft japanese tofu
- 1 or 2 leaves of Chinese Cabbage (Optional)
- Fried Egg
- Dried seaweed, not the paper seaweed used for sushi wrapping (Optional)
- Packeted ramen ( also bought in Jusco, the one that I'm using is by Megah)

1. To prepare the broth, clean the chicken and boil it with the garlics using 5 cups of water for around 10 minutes, then let it simmer for another 2-3 hours. I use the Buffalo cooker, so it's an easy job for me not to guard stove (And this is what I call getting the full essence and flavour out of the chicken and garlic!)

2. Remove the boiled chicken except for the garlic and then add in the whole container of Kimchi into the broth, with the cabbages, tomatoes, seaweed and the chicken cubes, and let

3. Add salt soy sauce and season to taste, pour it over the ramen, then top it with the "half" fried egg.

To prepare the ramen
Soak it in hot water to rinse off the coating on the noodle, drain it, then rinse it again with lukewarm water/any room temperature drinking water to get rid of the stickiness if you were to keep it for later.

If you guys are sceptical on how my Kimchi Soondubu(Ramen) actually taste, then here's the photo of my boyfriend's reaction while eating my Kimchi. ( not to boast, but this is not my 1st Kimchi soup though, so I kinda get the hang of making it XD)

Enjoy~
